She is licensed by the North Carolina Board of Licensed Professional Counselors and is a Certified Sexual Addiction Therapist (CSAT). Virginia has been trained in EMDR I and II. She helps clients discover their authentic selves and learn to live a life of significance, integrity and joy by examining trauma history, core beliefs and cognitive distortions, exploring family of origin issues, and working to modify unhealthy behaviors. While she has a strong personal faith, she will meet clients wherever they are spiritually. She seeks to honor each individual’s journey as she facilitates the process of meaningful change and growth, in the context of a warm and collaborative therapeutic relationship.
Virginia works with individuals who are struggling with issues of sexual compulsivity. She appreciates the courage that it takes to seek help and she is passionate about helping individuals recover from the shame and pain of sex addiction. She also specializes in working with men and women who are impacted by the sexual compulsivity of their partners. She personally recognizes the pain and trauma of sexual betrayal. The devastation is profound and often leaves a person reeling in a sea of pain, anger, confusion, shame, and isolation.
At Wings of Change, Virginia uses her expertise in helping adolescents and adults struggling with addiction, trauma, anxiety, depression, grief, and family and relational stress. Her therapeutic style is compassionate, intuitive, and direct as she utilizes evidence-based and task-centered approaches.
