About Our Practice

Wings of Change of Forsyth is a task centered program developed by Dr. Patrick Carnes. We specialize in the treatment of sexually addictive/compulsive behavior and other intimacy disorders.

We have intentionally developed an outpatient program that is team and tasked centered. Given the complex dynamics which sex addicts present, we make sure that our clients are part of a team centered approach that consists of a treatment team that meets weekly for case presentations and treatment team planning.

We complete an initial assessment utilizing Dr. Carnes instruments to determine the depth of the problems being presented to us. We provide several weeks of individual therapy to assure that we have an understanding of a clear treatment plan. The patient is then assigned to one of several therapy groups, led by our staff. They meet weekly for 90 minutes. This is an invaluable aid to accessing the unconscious through the use of images. We also provide 12 week psycho educational groups using a workbook (Facing the Shadow) that helps clients understand their addictive behavior and assists in developing the beginning steps to recovery.

We are able to provide individual counseling to the spouse or partner, as well as, a therapy group for them. We also provide work with children of sex addicts, family work, as well as, couples/marriage counseling. Using the Carnes in-patient model, we meet weekly as a team to integrate all the various pieces of work that is happening in a client’s treatment. This is by far the most efficacious approach to the treatment of sex addiction.
