Licensed Professional Counselor
Certified Sexual Addiction Therapist
Virginia Nelson earned her Master’s in Counseling from Liberty University. She is licensed by the North Carolina Board of Licensed Professional Counselors and is a Certified Sexual Addiction Therapist (CSAT). Virginia helps clients discover their authentic selves and learn to live a life of significance, integrity and joy by examining core beliefs and cognitive distortions, exploring family of origin issues, and working to modify unhealthy behaviors. She seeks to honor each individual’s journey as she facilitates the process of meaningful change and growth, in the context of a warm and collaborative therapeutic relationship.
Virginia specializes in working with men and women who are impacted by the sexual compulsivity of their partners. She recognizes the pain and trauma of sexual betrayal. The devastation is profound and often leaves a person reeling in a sea of pain, anger, confusion, shame, and isolation. Virginia believes that there is healing, redemption, and wholeness available for the partner, whether or not the addict pursues recovery.
At Wings of Change, Virginia also uses her expertise in helping adolescents and adults struggling with sexual addiction, trauma, anxiety, depression, grief, and family and relational stress. Her therapeutic style is compassionate, intuitive, and direct as she utilizes evidence-based and task-centered approaches.
